winter deal cute staff larger room english breakfast
I enjoyed a winter special bed and breakfast deal. the staff was cute, and the hotel impressed me inside and out, a true 5-star experience! i stayed in a club double room. It was larger than most rooms i have stayed in. breakfast was excellent. The full english breakfast was AMAZING!!!
I found the drop-off area limited, which caused a slight wait during checkout. I had to walk to the main street with my luggage.

following the hotel's history was a pleasure. the entrance through an internal courtyard felt private. staff was warm, professional, and proud of their workplace. a team member escorted me to my room and offered a helpful overview.
the drop off area was restrictive so limited the cars. on checkout, i waited 15 minutes then walked to the main street with luggage. it just doesn't work when more than one or two cars need assistance.

dinner at the fire restaurant was nice, i especially liked the spiced monkfish. breakfast included craster kippers. clever nods to its former life are present throughout the hotel, i saw it in terminology and colour schemes.

The room included a Roberts radio by the bed. I observed a well-stocked wardrobe with a minibar. I also noted the presence of robes and slippers. A large wall-mounted TV was available, which I find as a nice touch.
The corridors seemed a bit dark, and I felt more signage would improve navigation around the floors to locate the lifts easily.

underwhelming stay
the location was acceptable, right in the city center.
I booked through the website and downloaded the restaurant menu beforehand, but the restaurant was closed on the days i wanted to dine. the tv remote in my executive suite did not work due to a dead battery, and the windows did not open. there seemed to be no communication between staff.

the rooms are furnished to a very high standard. touches complement the original building's use as a fire station. location is excellent.
the drop off area limited the cars, i had to wait a considerable time on checkout. i had to walk to the main street with luggage. the members-only lounge was not of appropriate quality.
